POSITION:                         SCHOOL SYSTEM SECRETARY

                                           10 OR 12 MONTH POSITIONS

                                           FULL TIME AND PART TIME

 

 

LOCATION:                        VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN THE SYSTEM

 

SALARY:                             UNIT 4 SALARY SCALE

 

 

THIS POSTING IS TO CREATE A POOL OF QUALIFIED EXTERNAL APPLICANTS FOR VARIOUS SECRETARIAL POSITIONS THAT MAY BE AVALABLE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. POSITIONS MAY INCLUDE FULL TIME, PART TIME, OR SUBSTITUTE OPENINGS.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate
• Two years of successful and responsible secretarial experience preferred
• Two years related experience in finance preferred
• Must possess knowledge of office practices and procedures
• Must possess knowledge of business English, spelling and business mathematics
• Computer literate with proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets
• Must be able to type accurately from clean copy at a minimum speed of 60 words per minute
• Shorthand or speedwriting preferred
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Excellent communication, organization and human relation skills
• Office equipment used and/or knowledge of: typewriter, copier, fax machine, duplicator, calculator
• Must take and pass clerical test administered by the Allegany County Board of Education

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs typing assignments and answers correspondence as assigned by the principal
• Accurately maintains complex financial records and documents meeting all deadlines
• Opens and answers routine mail without need of supervision and processes other mail
• Represents school system adequately in public contacts
• Handles routine matters that arise during absence of supervisor(s)
• Maintains student records, registration and withdrawals
• Screens visitors entering building, ascertains the nature of their business and directs them to the proper person
• Answers telephone, general inquiries, receives messages and directs them to proper person
• Understands operation of school(s) and/or school system
• Works independently or with others
• Performs other duties as assigned by immediate principal
