POSITION: SECRETARY I - STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE
LOCATION: CENTRAL OFFICE
SALARY: UNIT 4, 12 MONTH SALARY SCALE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate;
- Two years of successful and responsible secretarial experience preferred;
- Two years related experience in finance preferred;
- Must possess knowledge of office practices and procedures;
- Must possess knowledge of business English, spelling and business mathematics;
- Computer literate with proficiency in Excel and working spreadsheets;
- Must be able to type accurately from clean copy at a minimum speed of 60 words per minute;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks;
- Excellent communication, organization and human relation skills; and
- Must take and pass clerical test administered by the Allegany County Board of Education
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in accurately maintaining and reconciling grant funding by school;
- Accurately maintains complex financial records and documents meeting all deadlines;
- Maintains precise financial files for audits and compliance with state spending guidance;
- Processes invoices and timesheets in a timely manner by school;
- Assists in compiling data for required MSDE grant reporting;
- Assists in maintain budgets by school;
- Understands MSDE Grant Spending Guidance;
- Willing to gain and apply specific knowledge of the Concentration of Poverty Grant and Spending Guidance;
- Represents school system adequately in public contacts;
- Handles routine matters that arise during absence of supervisor(s);
- Answers telephone, general inquiries, receives messages and directs them to proper person;
- Understands operation of school(s) and/or school system;
- Works independently or with others; and
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors and financial team.
