POSITION: School Psychologist
DEPARTMENT: Special Education
REPORTS TO: Principal/Supervisor
SALARY: Unit II Salary Schedule (200 days)
LOCATION: To Be Determined
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be eligible for Maryland certification as a school psychologist.
- Must have experience in psychological assessment administration, interpretation and report writing
- Must have skills in computerized data collection and word processing functions
- Must have the ability to use the on-line web-based Maryland IEP system and related tools
- Must have the ability to relate to parent, professionals, and community agencies in order to develop appropriate programs
- Must have an understanding of the IEP process and the ability to write behavior goals and assist in the development of behavior assessments and behavior plans.
- Must have regular on time attendance
- Must be capable of performing the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a member of the school IEP team.
- Complete assessments for the purpose of determining eligibility on a mandated time schedule
- Use appropriate assessment tools to identify students in need of special education services
- Provide a written report of assessment results and recommendations in compliance with COMAR regulations
- Participate as a member of the school PST team
- Use the on-line web-based Maryland IEP system and related tools
- Provide information on service options and placement alternatives supporting least restrictive environment options
- Make recommendations for students
- Provide counseling sessions and social skills training for students in accordance with their IEPs
- Provide professional development to staff at the direction of the supervisor
- Provide behavioral support to the classroom teacher/therapeutic behavior aide; including providing and revising daily behavior plans, and other visual/classroom supports as needed.
- Assist with developing behavioral goals for the student’s IEP.
- Assist in developing and revising functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
- Recommend instructional techniques and strategies to implement educational programs
- Coordinate and consult with outside agencies
- Assume other duties as assigned
